WHAT: PIER 31 TROOP (HERO) APPRECIATION DAY- For troops, spouses & children
that are serving or have served in the last year. This will include a HERO AWARD, 3 hour
cruise, swimming, fishing contest, prizes, some free rooms and special deeply discounted
hotel rates at Tan Tara. Pier 31 will supply the dinners, soft drinks, some boats and some free
hotel rooms. Other gifts, rooms and presents are welcomed and appreciated. Bridal Cave is,
also, offering $5.00 tickets(normally $15.00).
WHEN: SATURDAY June 18 @ 1:30, BOATS LEAVE FROM PIER 31 To Ha Ha Tonka State
Park where you can swim, fish, hike, rest, visit the Castle or ?? Returns to Pier 31 for a fishing
contest that will start about 5:30 for children up to 14 followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m & the
awarding of HERO AWARDS & PRIZES. Pier 31 will furnish some hotel rooms for the first that
call Pier 31 at 573-692-0502. The rooms are non-smoking & have 2 beds. TAN TARA who is
always very generous helping our HEROES will provide deep discounted rates(MANY will be
paid for by donors). Call PIER 31 @ 573-873-5283 to make reservations or donate a room.
WHO: 160 troops that are serving or have served in the last year, their spouses &
children. If the soldier is not able to come their spouse & children are welcome to come &
participate.
WHY: “FREEDOM IS NOT FREE” We want to honor, recognize, show our support,
appreciation & help make things brighter for all of those who have pledged their lives to
protect our families, country and freedoms so we can live in the land of the free. They and all
the others who have served are our "REAL HEROES."
